About
Quiet the Machine is an editorial space dedicated to the cognitive, psychological, and cultural consequences of ubiquitous AI assistance.
The prevailing conversation around AI has fixated largely on economic disruption and productivity gains. We believe the more consequential questions concern what happens to human attention, our capacity for unassisted judgment, and the homogenizing effects of outsourcing our thinking to a handful of foundational models.
We publish original essays and maintain a curated directory of empirical research to map this shift. We are not anti-technology; we are pro-deliberation. We treat critical thought as a skill that atrophies without friction, and we are interested in how a society preserves that friction in the face of an endlessly obliging machine.

Submissions
We accept pitches for essays, criticism, and reported features. We are looking for writing that is rigorous but accessible, prioritizing arguments that examine the psychological or social effects of AI over pure technical analysis.
